Works with Company representatives to identify and develop new safety policies as required. • Ensures that each facility maintains accurate written program documentation that meets regulatory standards and is understandable to field personnel. • Routinely visit jobsites, laboratories and plants. • Conducts comprehensive on-site safety audits of projects and multiple facilities; determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. • Inspect work zones and provide written documentation of such inspections and file appropriate reports. • Respond to on-call emergencies. • Develop/Instruct personnel in emergency procedures. • Develop, implement and manage cost reduction programs relative to workers compensation. • Develop relationships with regulatory agencies for the purpose of ensuring compliance and positive working partnerships with agencies. • Act as Company’s liaison during OSHA and EPA government inspections. • Follow up on all federal EPA and OSHA audits and correspondence. • Participate in all Companies safety performance appraisals of facilities. • Prepare monthly and annual Safety Reports. • Manage the drug and alcohol testing policy and procedures. • Review all Company vehicle accidents, employee incident and “near miss” reports. • Lead the ongoing development of Gallagher Asphalt’s safety policy. • Promote Behavior-Based Safety. • Direct safety in the workplace activities for all shops, plants, labs and office locations. • Recommends and enforces disciplinary actions against safety policy violators. • Coordinate insurance and legal related reporting and services within all divisions. • Direct the actions of all foreman and superintendents in all aspects of DOT and safety compliance. • Collect safety and environmental data for the annual activity report. • Prepare Job Hazard Analysis. • Travel as necessary. • Other duties as assigned.
