      Required Skills: EXPERIENCE: Two years experience in development and implementation of health and safety training work. Safety Intern GENERAL SUMMARY NAES Power Contractors maintains a Long-Term Service Agreement with a large fossil fuel power generating facility in Colstrip, Montana. This position will assist the on-site safety department in the safety activities for all NAES employees and subcontractors throughout the annual spring boiler overhaul and start up. This internship will be available from May 1 through September 1, 2014. This position reports directly to the Site Safety Manager and indirectly to the NAES Power Contractors West Safety Manager. PRIMARY DUTIES Provide safety leadership to the site management team, craft supervision and craft employees to develop and maintain an effective safety management process and a Zero Incident – Injury Free environment. Assist craft supervision in the development of JSA’s and safe work plans. Work closely with the Owner Site Safety Management Team and maintain a strong working relationship. Assist with required safety training. Participate in regular safety inspections of the physical work environment as well as safety related equipment and construction tools. Assist in presenting New Hire Safety Orientations. Assist in maintaining documents and records such as the Site OSHA Log, employee training records, safety inspections, contractor orientations, incident investigations, regulatory inspections. Participate in the inspection and documentation of key safety equipment such as fall protection, scaffolds, confined space monitors, emergency response equipment, respirators, lockout devices, and various types of PPE. Assist in investigating serious or potentially serious incidents utilizing root-cause analysis techniques and prepare reports of findings and recommended corrective actions. Work with all levels of management in fostering of an Injury and Incident Free environment and support management systems that will drive and sustain that culture. Carry out additional duties as directed. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY This position operates from established and well known procedures performing duties independently under general direction and minimum supervision. Contacts are normally made with others inside and outside the company, with the customer, vendors, contractors, immediate associates and own supervisor.
