The Labor Center is very active in efforts to preserve and interpret the labor and industrial history of Pittsburgh.  Pittsburgh served as the cradle of the American Labor movement.  Both the American Federation of Labor (AFL) and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) held their founding conventions in the city.  Some of the most famous events of US labor history occurred in the region.
