Workers' Memorial Day Services in Pittsburgh

On April 30, 2007 the Allegheny Central Labor Council held a memorial service in Market Square remembering the workers killed and injured across the state last year. The service featured readings and prayers dedicated to workers and pointed out the need for safer workplaces and an end to workplace deaths.

According to national statistics, 6,000 people are killed at work each year, 50,000 others dies annually from occupational-related diseases and millions more are injured on the job.

The theme for the event is Mourn for the Dead; Fight for the Living.
