Welcome to the web site for Jonathan B. (J.B.) Smith, Ed.D.  I am currently a faculty member at  the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  I am employed within the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport (HPED) at IUP, which is part of the College of Health and Human Services.

I came to IUP in the fall of 1997 mainly as the Aquatics Director and an Assistant Professor.  My duties have expanded extensively during my time here on campus.  I head up all aquatics programs, and teach various Aquatics Courses (HPED 263-"Aquatics"; HPED 264-"Advanced Aquatics"; HPED 162-"Scuba Diving"; and other courses in our annual Aquatic School).  In addition to aquatics courses, I teach HPED 442-"Seminar in Health, Physical Education and Sport," and I coordinate the Pre-Student Teaching program for our HPED majors in EDUC 242 and EDUC 342.  I also serve as the Chair of the IUP Senate and as the webmaster for the HPED department.

Prior to coming to IUP, I was a faculty member in the Perkiomen Valley School District (at the Perkiomen Valley High School) for nine years (from 1988-'97), where I served as a faculty member in Health and Physical Education and as the Director of Aquatics.

Please feel free to click here to see further information (which is located within the IUP HPED department web page) regarding my professional background.

Please feel free to contact me via email or at my campus address listed above.

The site is maintained by Dr. J.B. Smith and members of the current HP 442 "Seminar in Health, Physical Education and Sport' class.  Please email your comments and suggestions to jbsmith@grove.iup.edu
