Cohort Program Requirements

We offer a Masters of the Arts in Industrial and Labor Relations off campus for professionals already in the ILR field as well as offering the Masters of the Arts at the IUP main campus.

The Cohort program is designed for practicing professionals in the field of Employment Relations who take the entire program in two years on a cohort basis, two evening courses each spring, summer and fall. Since participants admitted to the Cohort program must be experienced in the field, the two introductory courses (ILR 613 Fundamentals of Industrial and Labor Relations and ILR 631 Human Resource Management) are waived and the program comprises 36 semester hours, including 21 required and 15 elective semester hours. Courses are taught by ILR Department faculty.

The 24 students of Cohort I who began in January, 1997, completed their program at the Monroeville Graduate and Professional Center and graduated in December, 1998. Cohort II began in January, 1999, at Monroeville and graduated in December, 2000. Cohort III began in January, 2001, at Monroeville and graduated in December, 2002.  Cohort IV began in January 2005 and completed the program at IUP's Northpointe Campus, located at the Slate Lick exit of Route 28, 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.
