1)  March 7, 2010 (8:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Where is Zink Hall?

For those who do not know, Zink Hall is the brown building right next to the Memorial Field House.  Novice Champs were held in Zink from 2004-2009.  Many/most of you should know the building because you might have been/were here for the Novice meet.
2) March 7, 2010 (8:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Meet Check-in Location

Meet Check-In for all swimmers and coaches is in Zink Hall Gym A.  While you are at check in, please feel free to walk around the building.  The check-in location will be very close to the exit to the MFH pool for warm-ups/cool downs (see #4 below), so note how to get to the MFH pool.
3) March 7, 2010 (8:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Gym Space Availability
We will have both gyms available (so there is actually significantly more gym space available than in the Memorial Field House).  Swimmers/family areas will be in Gym B.  Located in Gym A will be concessions, check-in, the states table, Kast-A-Way and overflow space for swimmers/family.  Gym A will be a bit cooler, because people will be exiting the back door to go to the Memorial Field House (see posting #4).  We will not permit the opening and closing of doors in Gym B, so it should be warm enough for swimmers in there.

4) March 7, 2010 (8:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Is the Memorial Field House Pool Available for Warm-ups and Warm-Downs?
YES it IS available!
The Memorial Field House will be open for warm-ups and cool-downs throughout the meet.   When you go to check-in for the meet (in Gym A) , note the door at the back of the gym.  To go to the Field House the shortest way possible, exit that door (the back door out of the Zink Hall Gym A) , proceed ahead 50 feet and enter the door to the Field House pool  by the diving well (it is the door which is right behind the Winners corner where awards are presented on the awards stand at districts.  Make sure swimmers bring parkas and athletic footwear for the 15-30 second walk outside to the MFH pool.  This walkway will be roped off and the parking lot will be closed so safety is not an issue.

5) March 7, 2010 (8:45 p.m.)
Subject:
Meeting Areas-Coaches and Officials

Coaches Meetings will be upstairs in 203 Zink.  Officials Meetings will be held in 202 Zink.  Coaches eating area will be first floor of Zink, 106/107 or 108 (still not sure which room, but look on that first floor hallway of classrooms and look for the food).   Coaches:  a most positive note; we will be in a carpeted classroom, not the deep, dark dungeon of the field house filter room! :-)
6) March 7, 2010 (9:30 p.m.)
Subject:
"Spring Forward"

I know this is a little bit off the subject, but while I've got you here, remember that on Saturday night the 13th, we get one less hour of sleep.  Clocks move forward at 2:00 a.m.  Remember to "spring forward" and move your clock forward on Saturday night.  Don't miss your warm-up!!
7)  March 8:   (10:00 a.m.)
Subject:
Officials Still

This is also a bit off the subject, but officials are needed for Saturday a.m. (Juniors), Sunday a.m. (Cadets) and Sunday p.m. (Preps).  If you can help out,...
PLEASE EMAIL Jim McElhaney NOW:
     Obelvedere@zoominternet.net
8) March 8:  (10:00 a.m.)
Subject:
Awards
Awards will still be given on the pool deck on the awards stand as in past years in the "Winners' Corner."  (Actually, parents will be able to get better pictures because the Winners' Corner in Zink will be much closer to the balcony).  The "IUP Victory Rule" regarding music selcetion will be in effect.  For those of you who do not know this, if you win at districts, you can provide the music to the scorer's table to march to if you want.  You must provide it on CD, and the music must be clean, appropriate, and in good taste.  But winners, remember, if you win, you can provide the music to march to,  if you want!!

9) March 8:  (10:00 a.m.)
Subject:
Pump McLaughlin Award Presentation

The presentation of the Pump McLaughlin Memorial Award will go on as scheduled prior to the senior session.  Plan on it as usual!
10)  March 8:  (10:00 a.m.)
Subject:
Parking Your Car
There will be more details on this as they develop, but we ask this....plan to park in the R + P lot.  The R + P lot is located behind the tennis courts which are to the west of Zink Hall (the field House is to the east, the tennis courts are to the west)  and is the size of a football field.  Plan to drive behind Zink Hall, drop off everyone but the driver at the back of the building, and then drive over to the R + P lot.  You may have to walk about 200 yards, but please help out.

Do NOT plan to park around the Memorial Field House.  Do not plan to park behind the Eberly College of Business (which is to the east of the Field House).

Plan to park in the R+P lot.  Look for the tennis courts and park behind them.  You can't miss that big parking lot.  Look for an update on parking later in the week.
11)  March 9  (1:00 p.m.):
Subject:  Water Temp.

Yes, the Zink Pool temperature will be lowered to 80-81 degrees.
12) March 9  (1:00 p.m.):
Subject:  Team Banners
Yes, absolutely, bring them, plenty of space available.
13) March 9 (1:00 p.m.)
Subject:  Parking Update
Update from #10 above.  From early in the a.m. until 10:00 a.m., the lot around Zink Hall will be closed to parking.  As stated in #10:  PLAN TO DRIVE TO THE BACK OF ZINK HALL...UNLOAD SWIMMERS AND SPECTATORS, DRIVE OUT OF ZINK TO MAPLE, TURN LEFT, GO ABOUT 50 FEET AND TURN LEFT, ENTERING THE R+P LOT WITH THE TENNIS COURTS ON EACH SIDE OF YOU.  The parking lot is the size of a football field and there is plenty of space in there.   Please don't park around Zink hall.  Arrive, drop others at the loading dock and proceed to the R + P lot.  Remember, when you go up to Penn State next weekend, you need to walk from the parking garage to the pool as well (so you are "training for states."

14) March 9 (1:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Loading Dock Only?

You do not necessarily have to enter Zink Hall from the loading dock.  If you want to enter through the front or side doors, feel free to do so.
15) March 9 (1:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Arrival of Seniors
Last year this went really well.  Please remember it will be very crowded at the end of the junior session.  Please, if you are a senior, arrive in Zink Hall 10, and maybe a max of 15 minutes prior to your warm-up time.  Seniors, the field house pool will be available, so feel free to get plenty of warm-up time in if you need it.  But seniors and senior parents...let's try to keep the numbers down at the end of the junior sessions.

16) March 9 (1:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Zink Balcony Capacity
The Zink Hall facility has a balcony capacity of 485.  The Field House has a balcony capacity of 525, so we lose about 7%, not a whole lot.  The only time the MFH balcony is really full are during relays and during the Pump Award Ceremony.   If your child is not swimming and you see it is crowded, please feel free to take a walk out in the hallways or the gym.   We will have two big, huge fans running at the ends of the balcony.  Zink Hall was built in the mid-1970's,  when many of us can remember energy conservation.  Zink holds heat really well, so dress accordingly.  Wear a light shirt.  We'll do our best to make you comfortable with the fans, but dress for warmth because Zink holds the heat really well.

17) March 9 (1:00 p.m.)
Subject:
Zink Hall-Wide Open
Zink Hall is open, so feel free to walk the hallways, sit in the front lobby, etc.  Please stay out of the classrooms, dance studio and office areas (which all will be locked or caged).
