How to Register for Courses
• Prior to entering the secure area to begin registration, it is recommended that all students refer to the link underneath the icon of the key that says, “See the schedule of classes listing”. This will display the most recent overall listing of courses that are being offered for the fall, spring, and summer sessions. • Click on “Log into secure area” to begin the registration process. • When asked to enter your user id, enter your 8 digit banner Id number, beginning with the @ symbol. • Enter your PIN. If you have forgotten your PIN number, you can click on the gray button “Forgot PLN?”(If this is the first time you have ever logged onto URSA, your PIN number is your birth date in month day year format. A person whose birthday is January 7, 1980 would enter the code 010780, with no spaces, hyphens, slashes, etc. You will then be prompted to create a new PIN which must be a six digit code you will always remember.) • Click on “Student Services.” • Click on “Registration.” • Click on “Select term.” • Click on “Look up classes to Add” You may begin searching for open sections of courses for which you wish to register. There are several search options available to you. • You must select a subject and should select the appropriate campus. • The remaining items can be used to narrow your search but are not required. • Scroll down the page and click on “Get Classes.” • The CRN is a unique number used to identify a particular section of a course. To register for a class, check the box in front of the CRN and click “Register” at the bottom of the classes that are listed. The system will then ask for your alternate PIN. Your alternate PIN for this semester is the four-digit number that appears on the front of your Time Appointment Letter. Enter your alternate PIN and click on “Submit PIN.” You will be required to enter your alternate PIN each time you enter the system to make registration changes, so remember this Alternate PIN number throughout the fall semester. You will then see that you are either registered for the course or you will see an error message describing why you could not register for the course. If you receive an error message, you must select a different section or a different course. Repeat the process of searching for a class by clicking on “Class Search” and then registering until you have completed your schedule. You may click on menu in the upper right corner and then click on “Student Detail Schedule” to see your course schedule complete with meeting times, location, and instructor. You should print this for your records. • Be sure to click on “Exit” to leave the system, and then exit your web browser.
• Periodically there are changes to the semester schedule. Classes are added, cancelled, and may experience changes in the day, time, room, and/or instructor. It would be wise to check your detailed schedule prior to the start of the semester. • Pre-requisite requirements will be strictly enforced. If a course requirement is a grade of “C” or better in the pre-requisite course, then this enforcement is applied immediately following the grading of the pre-requisite course. • You must contact the chairperson of the department in which the course section is offered to obtain permission to register for courses that are designated “permission required.”
