Dr. McCombie and students The mission of the IUP undergraduate program in Family and Consumer Sciences Education is to prepare educators who are empowered to enable youth and adults to manage with reason and creativity the challenges across the lifespan of living and working in a global society.

 

Faculty

Dr. McCombie received the Distinguished Faculty Award for Teaching in Spring 2006, one of the highest honors IUP bestows upon faculty.  She has served for 11 years as the coordinator of the Family and Consumer Sciences Education program.  In her classroom, she uses a variety of engaging instructional techniques, modeling how effective teachers provide learning opportunities based on a unique blend of content and pedagogy.

Student Association


The Family and Consumer Sciences Association provides leadership and supplemental learning opportunities to students in the FCSEd. Majors and others interested in the field. Programs feature guest speakers and attendance at professional meetings. Through the organization, students have the opportunity to become members of the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Pennsylvania Association of Family and Consumer Sciences through member mentor sponsorship.
