Each year the American Dietetic Association in association with the area and state affiliates recognizes outstanding dietetic educators. The following IUP faculty have received these awards:

Fellows of the American Dietetic Association:
The American Dietetic Association (ADA)membership, recognize registered dietitians exhibiting characteristics of advanced-level practice. The efforts of many registered dietitian volunteers, testing agency personnel, and headquarters staff culminated in 1995 with the certification of the charter Fellows of The American Dietetic Association (FADA). The following IUP faculty are certified Fellows of The American Dietetic Association.

(Chapters on: Coronary Heart Disease, Cancer, Hypertension, Stroke, Diabetes, Bone Health, Pulmonary Disease, Arthritis, Birth Defects, Diverticulosis, and Eye Diseases were used as evidence to support the Produce for Better Health Foundation’s testimony to the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee in January 2003. This testimony involved strengthening the Dietary Guidelines position on promoting fruits and vegetables for the prevention of chronic diseases.

  • January 10, 2002, Recorded Public Service Announcement in support of the American Cancer Society to be aired on WCCS radio.
  • October 9, 2001 at 7:45 am, Taylor-Davis was interviewed live on WDAD radio by Michael Danielsfor a public service announcement promoting Grocer’s Fight Cancer and dietary cancer
    prevention strategies recommended by the American Cancer Society. (audio-tape available).
  • January 10, 2001, Taylor-Davis participated in a telephone interview with Sheila Himmel, a news reporter for the San Hose Mercury News newspaper. Quotes included in an article published on January17, 2001 entitled, “When it comes to food phobias, it’s a matter of taste”.

Grants and Contracts:

  • $370,000 supported by a 3-year (2005-2008), USDA 2005 Special Project Grant, announced September 2005.
    • Title: “Development and Evaluation of Guided Goal Setting (GGS) as a Behavior Change Approach and Monitoring Protocol in Pennsylvania WIC.
    • Grant Co-Authors: Stephanie Taylor-Davis, Mia M. Barker, William F. Barker (all from Indiana University of Pennsylvania), and Shirley Sword (Director of Nutrition Services for Pennsylvania WIC).
    • Contract Awarded to Indiana University of Pennsylvania Department of Food and Nutrition by Pennsylvania WIC, with Stephanie Taylor-Davis as the Principle Investigator and Mia M. Barker and William F. Barker as Investigators.
