Professional Interests My professional interests include safety consulting and training, undergraduate safety curriculum research, and the use of technology in the classroom. In 2005, Dr. Chris Janciak and I jointly published a fire textbook entitled "Fundamentals of Fire Protection for the Safety Professional". I have been active in both the ASSE and the BCSP. In 2009, I was appointed a Director to the BCSP Board and for the ASSE I serve on the Educational Standards Committee. I also continue to be a program evaluator in safety for the Applied Science Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. My curriculum vitae is available for review. Personal Interests In my free time I enjoy hunting, motorcycling, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and playing a variety of sports, especially golf. Bow hunting is my favorite especially whitetail in PA but I have also taken elk in New Mexico, mule deer in Colorado and a Black Bear in Canada. When I get a chance in the summer I also enjoy do-it-yourself projects and woodworking. I have been an avid dog lover for many years and currently have two dogs, Mia a boxer and Zena a lab. Both my son and daughter have attended IUP Safety Sciences, with Kate working for Chevron in Houston, TX and Shane will start this summer with Alcoa in Akron, OH.
